RNA evolution

The use of bioinformatics methods to predict RNA structure have lead me into an interest in RNA evolution. The basic evolution by conservative base substitutions, but studying RNA changes on a larger scale has been observed for primate lentiviruses, where the changes makes sense in the light of the palindrome mentioned above (ref). A further study of developing an RNA editor we studies the Rfam database (ref).

Biophysical methods

I have been participating in projects to use Atomic Force Microscopy (AFM) to study RNA structure. Lately I have been using the method Small-Angle X-ray Scattering (SAXS).
